Hengeler Mueller advises XXXLutz on acquisition of Porta Group

XXXLutz is acquiring the Porta Group, a second-generation family-run furnishing company from Porta Westfalica with around 140 locations in Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In addition to the porta brand, the group also includes Möbel Boss, Asko and Möbel Letz. Porta's owner families have decided to place their company, founded in 1965, in the hands of the XXXLutz Group.

XXXLutz is one of the largest furniture retailers in the world with over 370 furniture stores in 14 countries and employs more than 27,100 people. In addition, it operates 24 online shops in the XXXLutz, Möbelix and Mömax sales channels.

The porta Group currently comprises 26 large-scale porta furniture stores, two porta kitchen furniture stores, 95 stores of the omnichannel furniture discounter SB-Möbel BOSS, 22 furniture stores of the ASKO Group in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and the furniture retailer Möbel Letz in Saxony-Anhalt.

The transaction is subject to antitrust approval. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Hengeler Mueller worked together with PRK Partners s.r.o. in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
