Electrolysis company Sunfire has raised EUR 86m from investors. The extended Series D financing round involved Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Copenhagen Infrastructure Energy Transition I fund, and Blue Earth Capital, among others. In addition, CIP enters into an agreement on the purchase of pressurised alkaline electrolysers with a total capacity of up to 640 MW, to supply a portion of CIP's multi-GW Power-to-X project pipeline.
Hengeler Mueller advised CIP on the investment in Sunfire. The team included partners Jens Wenzel (Venture Capital/M&A, Berlin) and Hendrik Bockenheimer (Employment, Frankfurt), counsel Fabian Seip (IP/IT), Alexander Bekier (Corporate/M&A) (both Berlin) and Moritz Rademacher (Energy, Düsseldorf) as well as associates Theresa Scharff, Björn Brauer, Ciro D'Amelio (all Venture Capital/M&A, Berlin) and Mona Geimer (Employment, Frankfurt).
