Sebastian Schneider and Jens Wenzel appointed new co-managing partners at Hengeler Mueller

The partners of Hengeler Mueller have elected Jens Wenzel and Sebastian Schneider as the new co-managing partners with effect from 1 July 2026. They succeed Thomas Müller and Bernd Wirbel, whose terms of office are due to end after a total of four years.

Sebastian Schneider: “The legal market is transforming: Geopolitics causes challenges for the economy, international regulation brings ever more complexity, and technology creates new opportunities. Through these dynamics, legal services can – and must – deliver even more in the future. This is where we fully leverage the strengths of Hengeler Mueller. As an independent partnership with deep roots in the European market, we have the agility and innovative power to continue shaping the standards of international high-end legal advice going forward. Jens and I look forward to contributing ideas and momentum in our roles as Co-Managing Partners.”

Jens Wenzel: “Artificial intelligence offers significant opportunities for our work. We use proprietary applications tailored to our clients’ needs and are continuously developing them further. In our high-end practice, uncompromising quality remains decisive – and is ensured by our outstanding lawyers. The spirit of constantly improving our performance is what defines working at Hengeler Mueller and our approach to client service. This is what Sebastian and I are committed to as the new Co-Managing Partners.”

Sebastian Schneider has been a partner since 2018, initially in Berlin and, since 2019, in the Frankfurt office. He advises strategic and financial investors on M&A transactions. He particularly focuses on complex large-scale energy and infrastructure projects.

Jens Wenzel has been a partner in the Berlin office since 2014. He specialises in M&A transactions. His practice focuses in particular on venture capital and growth financings, exit transactions and transactions in the financial services sector.
