New representative action regime passed into law

On the last day before the summer recess, the German Bundestag passed the law implementing the EU Representative Actions Directive. For the first time, it will be possible to sue directly for damages on behalf of a large number of consumers in Germany. This will make it much easier to enforce consumer rights. For companies, the representative action entails new risks that need to be kept in mind. Our experts have prepared the main contents of the new law, which is expected to apply from fall this year.
