Hengeler Mueller advises Metsä Board Oyj on divestment of Metsä Board Zanders GmbH to mutares AG

Metsä Board Oyj, a leading producer of high-performance paperboards and quality papers, has agreed to sell all its shares in Metsä Board Zanders GmbH to mutares Holding-20 AG, a wholly owned subsidiary of mutares AG and to a further company. mutares AG is a listed investment company based in Munich. Closing of the transaction is subject to German competition authorities’ approval and it is expected to take place by the end of May 2015.

Hengeler Mueller advised Metsä Board Oyj on the transaction. The Hengeler Mueller team included partners Joachim Rosengarten, Frank Burmeister (both Corporate/M&A), Hans-Joachim Liebers, Hendrik Bockenheimer (both Labour) and Matthias Scheifele (Tax) as well as associates Thomas Lang, Martin Tasma (both Corporate/M&A), Nadine Ischdonat (Labour) and Britta Süßmann (Tax) (all Frankfurt). Hengeler Mueller had also advised Metsä Board Oyj on the acquisition of the former Zanders Feinpapiere AG in 2001.
