DB Netz AG, the railway infrastructure manager of Deutsche Bahn AG, has awarded a contract for the "Digitaler Knoten Stuttgart" project worth EUR 127 million to Thales, and concluded complex infrastructure contracts for this project, the German milestone project for the digitalisation of train traffic control. "Digitaler Knoten Stuttgart" is one of three pilot projects from the "Digitale Schiene Deutschland" (Digital Rail Germany) launch programme, with which the Federal Ministry of Transport and Deutsche Bahn are promoting the migration of railway networks from analogue to digital.
Hengeler Mueller advised DB Netz AG on the contract design and negotiations with the bidders. The team included partners Wolfgang Spoerr and Albrecht Conrad, counsel Matthias Berberich as well as associates Jan Krusche, Cornelia Gersch and Tobias Schubert (all TMT, Berlin).
Inhouse at Deutsche Bahn AG, the legal counsel Dr. Björn Moßdorf, Henry Hoda and Konstantinos Poulopoulos led the project.
