Hengeler Mueller secures German merger clearance for Meta's acquisition of Kustomer

The German Federal Cartel Office approved Meta Platforms, Inc.'s (Meta; formerly Facebook, Inc.) acquisition of US cloud-based customer relationship management platform provider Kustomer, Inc. In January 2022, the European Commission had already conditionally approved the transaction under the EU Merger Regulation. The European Commission's investigation followed a referral request which the Austrian Competition Authority had submitted last year and which the Federal Cartel Office had not joined.

Hengeler Mueller advised Meta on the merger investigation of the German Federal Cartel Office. The team was led by Brussels partner Markus Röhrig and included associates Christian Dankerl (Brussels/Düsseldorf), Malte Frank (Berlin) and Daniel El Awad (Düsseldorf) (all competition law).
