After 19 months of construction, the Swiss train manufacturer and service provider Stadler Rail has inaugurated the state-of-the-art maintenance facility for innovative battery-electric rail vehicles in Rendsburg together with the Minister of Economics, Transport, Labour, Technology and Tourism of the state of Schleswig-Holstein, the Managing Director of the Schleswig-Holstein public transport association (NAH.SH) and other guests from politics and business.
In 2019, NAH.SH signed a 30-year contract with Stadler Rail for the maintenance of the 55 new battery-electric FLIRT battery trains. The FLIRT battery-powered trains will cover around 10 million battery-electric train kilometres on eleven railway lines, which account for 40 percent of rail traffic in Schleswig-Holstein.
