The State of Hesse, RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG, Asklepios Kliniken GmbH & Co. KGaA and the Universitätsklinikum Gießen and Marburg (UKGM) GmbH, the operating company of the university hospitals in Gießen and Marburg, as well as the universities in Gießen and Marburg and their medical departments have signed a "Future Paper Plus" and a comprehensive set of agreements on the further cooperation at the UKGM for the next ten years.
This follow-up agreement and the corresponding state funding agreement significantly expands the previous agreements on the Future Paper: the State of Hesse and the UKGM will invest almost 850 million EUR in the Gießen and Marburg sites. With these agreements coming into effect, the parties will at the same time settle issues that have been intensively discussed in recent years about the reason for, and the amount of, investment funding for the university hospitals Giessen and Marburg.
Hengeler Mueller has advised RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG, Asklepios Kliniken and the UKGM on this agreement with a team led by lead partners Georg Seyfarth (corporate) and Dirk Uwer (public and health care law) as well as associates Ingo Albert (corporate, all Dusseldorf) and Joachim Hannes Burger (state aid law, Brussels).
In addition, Simon Bangert has advised in-house for RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG and Asklepios Kliniken.
