Hengeler Mueller advises KKR on acquisition of Universum Film

Funds advised by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (“KKR”) announced the acquisition of Universum Film GmbH from Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland. Based in Munich, Universum is a nationally and internationally operating provider of audiovisual media. Universum develops, produces as well as acquires rights to feature films and series and monetises them in film distribution (e.g. “Earth”, “The Hateful 8”, “Valerian”) and through the distribution of DVD and Blu-Ray as well as online. Furthermore, Universum is active in the radio play market and owns two subscription-based video-on-demand channels.
