Following the announcement of the strategic partnership with Stadtwerke München (SWM) (press release of 24 June 2026), Skyborn Renewables (Skyborn) has announced the successful achievement of Financial Close for project Gennaker, its flagship offshore wind farm with a capacity of up to 976.5 MW planned to be built in the German Baltic Sea, approximately 15 kilometres north of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula.
Financial close confirms that all key project agreements and financing arrangements are now in place, including debt and equity financing, power purchase agreements (PPAs) with leading energy buyers, including Amazon (600 MW) and Uniper (100 MW), strategic equity investment partnerships and major supply and installation contracts. The project has secured a comprehensive €2.1 billion non-recourse financing package from a consortium of 16 commercial lenders and the European Investment Bank (EIB). Gennaker is now entering its construction and execution phase. It is planned to be fully operational by the end of 2028 and will then deliver green electricity to around 1 million households in Germany.
